Proximity Smart Key (Push-Button Start)
A proximity remote (often called a Smart Key) that allows keyless entry and push-button start when the fob is nearby. This is the most common setup on higher Tucson trims and packages with push-button ignition.

Programming
🏢 Dealer RequiredProgramming typically requires an automotive locksmith or dealer with Hyundai-capable diagnostic/programming tools. Many Tucson Smart Keys cannot be fully programmed DIY; some shops require all existing keys/fobs present during programming. If all keys are lost, additional steps (and towing in some cases) may be required to register new fobs to the vehicle.
⚠️ Common Issues
- Wrong FCC ID/part number purchased (remote won’t program or functions won’t match)
- CR2032 battery weak causing intermittent detection or reduced range
- Water damage or cracked shell leading to button failure
